Land Heritage Education Centre for Farming & Food Phase 2

We hope to get Phase II, the development of offices, a board/meeting room (also to be available for local groups to hire) and library, underway in 2007. Not only is it much needed space for the Trust's work but we hope for use by the local community and other like-minded organisations as well.

The photovoltaic array, covering most of the roof of the building, will generate all our electricity needs as well as enabling us to export back to the grid, adding to the amount of renewable energy available for use by the local community. The solar thermal installation will provide hot water for the offices, workshop, hand basins and shower.

The timber frame structure has been erected by a local North Devon firm using Devon grown douglas fir and we plan to use as many green and renewable resources as possible, including sheeps wool for insulation.
